Changes to Tuesday Volunteer Hours
As many of you may remember, we have been planning on expanding some of our volunteer hours to accommodate the increasing number of clients and the growing number of volunteers. To test this approach we will be piloting the below schedule on Tuesdays only starting on September 14.

Morning: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Afternoon: 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Evening: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

If you are a regular Tuesday volunteer please consider which shift will work best for you so that we can begin setting up the schedules as soon as possible.

Please note that the morning and afternoon shifts can accommodate no more than eight (8) volunteers per shift.


Bottomless Closet Fall Sale: Volunteers Needed!
Bottomless Closet’s Annual Fall Sale is being held on Saturday, October 2, and we are looking for volunteers to help out! Volunteers are needed to fill the following time slots:

Pre Sale Set Up
Friday, October 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Friday, October 1 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Day of Sale – assist clients, work the registers and clean up

Saturday, October 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Post Sale – restock boutique and set up for client operations
Monday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Goodies for Goodie Bags
One of the things we do here at BC to make our clients’ experience more positive is give them goodie bags filled with lotions and potions that they can use to look, feel and smell their absolute best. The contents for these goodie bags are contingent completely on donations that we may (or may not) receive at any given time which makes our supply inconsistent at best.

We would be tremendously grateful if you or someone you know could help us secure large amounts of the following: soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair products, face or body lotion and make-up (unused and unopened).

Art under the Stars: Save the Date!
Please save the date! The Young Leadership Council will host the Fifth Annual Art under the Stars at the Matthew Marks Gallery on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 in advance and $100 at the door. Tickets may be purchased through our website at www.bottomlessclosetnyc.org.

We are currently soliciting items for our silent auction and raffle. If you have items to contribute, please contact Gina Diaz at GDiaz@bottomlessclosetnyc.org for a donor form. Popular items have included theater and sports tickets, jewelry, handbags, wine, restaurant and spa certificates. Your help in making the auction a success is appreciated!

Bottomless Closet Closings and Out of Office
Please mark your calendars with the below dates that the offices of Bottomless Closet will be closed. If you were planning to volunteer on any of those days, you are welcome to reschedule for another date.

Monday, September 6 – Labor Day
Monday, October 11 – Columbus Day

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Administrative Project
We are looking for some nimble fingered volunteers to help us out with a large mailing anytime during the week of Monday, August 30 through Thursday, September 2. If you have availability and would like to help us out, please email jland@bottomlessclosetnyc.org at your earliest convenience so we can schedule a time.

Evening Workshop Support
During our evening workshops, we are in need of volunteers to sit at the front desk to check in clients, handle some light administrative tasks and close up shop at the end of the night. There will be a staff member on hand to answer your questions and provide any guidance you might need.
